Western Canadian Tour Wrap-Up & Upcoming Mexican Adventure

November 27, 2013

Hey Folks,
I am happy to be home after a wonderful Western Canadian tour. Thanks to all the good folks from Thompson to Whitehorse who hosted us and came out to the shows. What an amazing country we have. Highlights were seeing Elk in Saskatchewan, cooking dinner over an open fire in the Yukon in November, returning to beautiful Golden, B.C. and of course sharing a stage with my son Patrick. This picture is from our show at the Mann Gallery in Prince Albert.

Teresa and Patrick on stage

Tomorrow night, November 28 we are on stage at the Al Whittle Theatre in Wolfville, N.S. in a double bill with C.B.C. Weekend Morning host Stan Carew. Show time is 7:00.

Consider giving the gift of music this year. You’ll find my new CD and get all the news at my new website www.teresadoyle.com Heads up, October Browne and I will be doing our annual ‘Raise the Dead of Winter ‘ tour in Southern Ontario in early February. We still have a couple dates to fill if you are in the mood to host a house concert.

Stay warm,
Teresa

P.S. Read on about a grand Mexican adventure. I am excited to be presenting Sun, Sand and Singing – A Vocal Coaching and Yoga Retreat in Puerto Morelos Mexico with Haliburton yoga teacher Linda Shadbolt from March 10–15, 2014

Here’s the info from Linda’s website:

Sun, Sand and Singing – A Vocal Coaching and Yoga Adventure in Puerto Morelos Mexico March 10 – 15, 2014 with Teresa Doyle and Lynda Shadbolt

Beach in Mexico

Teresa Doyle and I want to have some fun in the sun and are inviting people to join us in Mexico for some beach time, vocal coaching, yoga, exploring the area we are in and some Mexican culture. This trip is about relaxing, exploring and having a chance to do some singing and yoga. No matter what your singing level is, we guarantee that everyone feels happier when they sing. What a great way to travel. The daily yoga on the beach (yea!!!!!) will be an opportunity to stretch, breathe, connect to the beauty that is around us and become present. Also a gift to the adventuring traveller.

Teresa Doyle is a performer who regularly travels across Canada, and to other countries to sing. Audiences love her beautiful voice, and her easy going PEI friendly way of being. I love her company. Teresa not only performs, but also is a gifted vocal coach. She teaches annually at her private artists retreat in PEI, she offers classes for children in her local community and sound yoga, and she works with choirs and yoga students in communities when she travels. She is an intuitive teacher who loves to help people find their voice and play with expanding and exploring their voice. She is fun and easy going. No experience is necessary. Teresa has lots of experience of working with people of all levels of experience.

Teresa has travelled to Mexico many times in her life and loves it there, and has taken groups in previous years for these vocal coaching workshops. This year I am joining her and will be teaching yoga every morning on the beach. There will be 2 hours per day of vocal coaching, and 1 hour of yoga on the beach. The yoga and vocal coaching will happen each morning so that you are free to relax and explore the area in the afternoons.
Teresa and I like to have fun and relax and be healthy. The sun, the sand, the singing and the yoga are a beautiful combination for a great adventure. We hope that you will come and hang out with us. It will be a great week.

Where we’re going in Mexico – Puerto Morelos

We have chosen the town of Puerto Morelos as the destination for our adventure. Teresa has travelled to this town many times and loves it there. Puerto Morelos is in the northern part of the Riviera Maya just 20 minutes south of the Cancun International Airport. With its iconic lighthouse, Puerto Morelos is one of the oldest communities on Mexico’s Caribbean coast. Today, the town is known for its National Marine Park, which is part of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef. Divers and snorkelers appreciate the beauty of the sea and the friendliness of the community. Puerto Morelos is a laid back fishing village and is very tourist friendly. The town has consciously chosen not to be like Playa Del Carmen or Cancun by fighting off plans for big hotels in town. Puerto Morelos has many small restaurants and other amenities and a beautiful beach. It is close to various Mayan sites: Tulum, Coba, Chichen Itza, & Ek Balam (and farther away Palenque) as well as close to interesting cities Merida and Valladolid. There are two eco-theme parks (Xcaret and Xel-ha) relatively close. Tourists to the area feel safe and welcome in Puerto Morelos. For those people who live in Haliburton and are interested… Marie Lee Zahab (grade 3 teacher at Stuart Baker Elementary) has been to this little town many times when she lived in Mexico and loved it there. You can ask her about her experiences there.
