Festivals and more festivals, singing camp and gardening

June 19, 2014

Hello, Folks. Happy Summer!

I hope this letter finds you health, happy and ready for a great summer. I’ve been home for a month or so and and have just planted my biggest veggie garden ever.

Folk festival season just started for us with two performances at Prince Edward Island’s Festival of Small Halls. My son Patrick and I have a couple more festivals here on the island in July before heading off to Ontario. We’ll be at The Spirit of Chautaugua in Summerside and I’ll be part of the Frank Ledwell Storytelling & Comedy Festival in St.Peter’s.

In early August Patrick and I will be performing at The Blue Skies Festival. I am so excited about this, it’s my first time at Blue Skies and many musician friends have raved about this festival. From there I’ll be travelling solo to The Goderich Celtic Roots Festival. Again, this is a new one for me and I’m happy for the chance to dig into my Celtic repertoire. In September Patrick and I will be joined on stage by our buddy Jaron Freeman-Fox  at The Deep Roots Festival in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. Jaron produced my latest recording, Song Road. Did you get a copy? It’s garnered a lot of great reviews. You can purchase it at teresadoyle.bandcamp.com.

Patrick has a fabulous new band called Larque and we are doing our first double bill at P.E.I.’s favourite folk venue, The Trailside Cafe on Sat July 19th. Did I mention that I LOVE playing music with my son?

Now let’s talk camp. Every year I have a weekend singing camp (the Yoga of Sound) at Rock Barra Artist Retreat. We sing, swim, laugh, share songs around the campfire, eat fabulous food and laze on the beach. This year camp is a bit later than usual, Friday August 15 – Sunday 17th. A number of people come every year. Get in touch for more details. We will be posting the full Rock Barra Artist Retreat schedule soon at www.rockbarraretreat.com.

Looking ahead to the fall and winter I am planning shows in The Yukon, B.C., North Carolina, Ontario, Quebec and singing camp in Puerto Morelos, Mexico in March.

Happy gardening folks and keep in touch,
Teresa
