Goodbye Mexico, Hello Spring Concerts

March 31, 2016

Hi, Folks.

We are back from Mexico and would like to thank our Puerto Morelos friends for a warm welcome, especially Anuska Moracho and Jorge Real (Roki) Zamora. It is always a pleasure to make music with you two. Hopefully we will have many more opportunities to perform and perhaps record together in the coming years.

We’ve had a couple weeks at home and now I’m looking ahead to some spring shows. This weekend I’ll be playing in Truro, Nova Scotia at The Peg on Friday evening, April 1, and giving a singing workshop on Saturday, hosted by Creative Voices Truro. Later in April my son Patrick and I head off on our annual tour to Quebec and the Ottawa area. On Friday April 29 we play at GiGzz Musique-Resto in Ormstown, in the Townships south of Montreal, and on Saturday April 30th at the spectacular Calabogie Lodge in Calabogie, Ontario. On Sunday May 1st we have a private show at The Windsor Arms in Ottawa at 3:00 p.m. Get in touch with me for tickets to this show. We will be adding other shows in the next week or two. Check my schedule for additional dates.

I’ve had the good fortune to receive a Canada Council grant for composing for multiple voices and this will be my main focus for the next few months. I’m using a five channel looping station, an RC 505 by Roland. This unit allows me to explore some of the vocal ideas I have rolling around in my head, and perform them live, solo with the looper, or with choirs. I’ll be sharing some video clips soon.

It’s been an exceptionally mild winter here and I am looking forward to getting into the garden. There’s a brand new seed alliance here on Prince Edward Island and we’ll be testing, growing and sharing heirloom seed.

Happy gardening,
Teresa

p.s. Here’s a video for a gig Anuska, Roki and I did at the lovely UNICO beach club. Oh, happy days on the beach! And a picture of Brett and I out for an early morning walk on a very windy day in Puerto Morelos.
