Summer 2017 on the Island, Concerts and Singing Camp

July 12, 2017

Well, summer is in full swing. I’ve been in swimming a few times and it is still a bit chilly but getting warmer. I am happy to report that I am home on the island until the fall. We have a special project happening at Rock Barra Retreat that I am co-ordinating. It’s called The Waters and The Wild, 15 free workshops celebrating nature through art. The workshops are on select Tuesdays through the summer and fall.

In addition to that we have our usual summer workshop and concert series at Rock Barra Retreat. My son Patrick and I kick off the summer concert series on Sunday, July 23. Following that we have J.J. Chaisson, Finley Mullally & The River Thieves, Mark Haines, Richard Wood and Gordon Belsher, October Browne and, my favourite, the young folks concerts. Here’s the full schedule.

My singing camp is August 4–6. I’ll be sharing material that I learned in India and some new chants that I’ve written in the past few months. As always we spend the weekend singing, chanting, swimming, eating, laughing and learning vocal technique. Some folks come every year. I still have a few spots open, but hurry, we have folks flying in from Toronto and the U.S. this year. Here’s a a full list of all workshops on offer this summer.

Patrick and I have a number of shows together this summer: Montague Days Festival on Saturday, July 15, The Rollo Bay Fiddle Festival on Sunday, July 16, Rock Barra Retreat on July 23, and Trailside Café on August 14. Come fall I’ll be back in Ontario with the lovely October Browne, and in the new year Patrick and I are off on an adventure down under. We are beyond excited and will share that news in the fall letter.

Have a wonderful summer. Be sure to get in touch if you are on the island.

Cheers,
Teresa
