It’s Summer!! Finally the days are warm, the garden is growing and here on Prince Edward Island we are all dancing as fast as we can. Our summer program for Rock Barra Retreat is almost finalized. Check back in a few days.
Tonight we play at the wonderful Small Halls Festival. Our show is at Orwell Corner Historic Site. Showtime is 7:30 pm. On July 21 we play at the Rollo Bay Fiddle Festival and on July 28 at Rock Barra Artist Retreat. These three shows are with fiddle player Ward MacDonald, my son Patrick Bunston and me, collectively known as Backroads.
Patrick and I are also participating in a unique event organized by Rob Oakie at Music PEI. It is called Classic Music Reignited. This concert series invites musicians to re-imagine some famous writers and singers. Rob has heard me sing Gaelic, Latin, swing, folk, and East Indian chant, but never country. He challenged Patrick and me to perform songs from Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn. We can’t wait, what a treasure trove of songs to choose from. You will also find us at Trailside Cafe in Mount Stewart on Weds Aug 28.
My annual singing camp at Rock Barra Artist Retreat is Friday evening till Sunday noon, August 2-4. We always have a marvelous time. Call me at 902-969-0367 if you want more information.
