Hello 2026

January 20, 2026

Happy 2026, Folks.

It’s a messy time on Planet Earth and I don’t quite understand why I feel optimistic and excited for 2026, but I do, the gift of being an artist I suppose. We all have an obligation to do what we can to make it a kinder more peaceful place. That work is more important than ever and perhaps there’s no better way than to be creative. It is a rebellious act. Sing, dance, write, that’s what’s makes us human. It’s what feeds our souls, builds communities and prepares us to meet extreme challenges.

2026 is going to be a wild ride for me. I am collaborating with some amazing Prince Edward Island musicians for an album set to be released in the fall. In addition my friend Haley Lewis and I will be showing our art work at the Gallery Cafe in Old Charlottetown June, July and August. I’m delighted to be doing this show with Haley. She is a well established and beloved painter, this will be my first exhibition. I can’t wait to share my whimsical abstract pieces with you.

Rock Barra Artist Retreat continues to grow by leaps and bounds. This year we will have our usual concert series, art and healing workshops and special projects. We just celebrated 25 years and will be featured on the long standing C.B.C. television series Land and Sea.

My partner Curtis and I are off to Mexico for the month of February. We go to a tiny fishing village south of Puerto Vallarta called Melaque. This town is a mecca for older Canadians including some Yukon musicians I’ve known for years.

One final piece of news, I’ve just been granted the Music PEI Lifetime Achievement Award. I feel blessed.

Cheers all,
Teresa
