Hello Summer

June 27, 2021

Hi, folks. Happy summer! May this be a summer for us to go out and do the things we enjoy with our friends and families. Prince Edward Island has been blessed with very little Covid but it has been hard for everyone everywhere!

Well, I finally have some shows to tell you about. The first is at the Rollo Bay Fiddle Festival on July 16. This festival has been running for over 40 years produced by the amazing Chaisson family of fiddlers. Many of you know Tim Chaisson for his work in the band The East Pointers. This year the theme is legacy families and I’ll be performing for the first time with both my son Patrick Bunston and my niece Katlin Doyle. We are excited and nervous. It’s tough getting back on stage after a year and a half.

On July 20 I am a guest artist with Vishtèn at The Trailside Music Hall. They are an Acadian group who have toured the world and it is an honour to be working with them. Vishtèn have invited their friends, both Francophone and Anglophone, to celebrate the existing connections between Island musicians, and to create new relationships around Vishtèn’s music and the unique artform of the ‘crankie’ box – small moving panoramas that tell a story visually.

On August 8, I’ll be at the Watermark Theatre in Rustico with Meaghan Blanchard, Tanya Davis, Emmanuelle LeBlanc, and Julie Lush-Pelletier in a show curated by Rob Oakie. Before Covid, I talked to Rob who is the ED at Music PEI about an idea called Songs for a Small Planet. We would partner Prince Edward Island songwriters with writers from around the world and write songs that reflect the kind of world that we would like to see. This show is our first effort on this theme.

July 30th to August 1 is my annual Yoga of Sound weekend at Rock Barra Artist Retreat. Book soon if you think you would like to come spaces are filling up fast, but we do have a waiting list. Check out the full list of workshops at Rock Barra for the summer and fall. The place is really rocking after 20 years of hard work. We put in some lovely gardens this year too. For more details go to www.rockbarraretreat.com.

Have a wonderful summer wherever you are.

Happy gardening,
Teresa

    Hello!
Wondering if placed need to be (or if they can be) reserved for the pottery on August 15. Looking for spots for two people.

    Thank you for your time!
